Jeff Beck with Tal Wilkenfeld
Posted by White, Shannon on July 31, 2009 at 12:51 PM
This footage was taken at Crossroads 2007. There are a couple of songs. Your really gotta check this out. Everyone knows of Jeff Beck, and he does not fail to impress, but not as many have heard of Tal Wilkenfeld. A hot chick bass player that makes me feel completely inadequate, and ashamed to pick up the instrument. And she's like, what, 21? This is a definite must-see.

Keep an eye on this lady, she'll be everywhere soon. Here is her website: http://www.talwilkenfeld.com/

Somebody just turned me on to this guy's video on YouTube. I've seen a few two hand method guitar players before, and this guy is up there in the top ranks. Check it out. Also, its not often you see a 10 string guitar.

You will be able to enter yourself into the registry, along with your skills, talents, available times, etc, so that others can search for musicians to fill in, join your band, or hire for parties or studio work.

Or, you can search the registry yourself to find the musician you need for your project.

Totally free, of course.

Keep an eye out, it will be here soon...
Help Out the Fight against MS

Multiple Scloerosis is an autoimune disease that attacks the nervous system. Currently there is no cure.

A good friend of ours, Jason Collins, is a victim of this terrible disease. He is active in promoting the cause and raising money to find a cure. I had the privilege of playing at a charity event with him at Crickets last Friday, and it was a blast. His voice is stronger than ever, even if his body is not.

He has written a song called 24 Hour Alamo, which we are happy to play here. Its a very good song, I really like it. It was recorded with J. Fletcher and R Webster, I believe.

Please check out his web site, http://www.smashms.com, and give all you can, any chance you get, to help find a cure. And listen for his song.

Looking for a career in music?

If you are, I highly recommend the music department at McLennan Community College (MCC), our friends across town. I went there myself a few years back (no comment on how many) and it was a wonderful experience for me. They have programs in a wide variety of music fields. Here's the web site
http://www.mclennan.edu

or more precisely, here is the music departments
Commercial Music - http://www.mclennan.edu/departments/cmp/
Transfer Music - http://www.mclennan.edu/departments/a&s/musi/

Good stuff
